What is Rajasthani dress called?
The traditional dress of Rajasthan is called “Lehenga Choli” or “Ghagra Choli” for women and “Dhoti Kurta” for men. The Lehenga Choli is a long skirt and blouse with a dupatta (scarf), while the Ghagra Choli is a full skirt and blouse with a dupatta. The Dhoti Kurta is a traditional outfit consisting of a knee-length shirt and a long piece of cloth wrapped around the legs and tied at the waist.
Apart from these traditional dresses, Rajasthan is also known for its colorful and vibrant turbans (known as “pagdis” or “safas”) worn by men, which signify different regions, castes, and professions. Women also wear a lot of jewelry, including necklaces, earrings, bangles, and nose rings, which are an important part of the traditional attire. The colorful and intricate embroidery, mirror work, and other embellishments on the dresses and turbans reflect the rich cultural heritage of Rajasthan.
